Damon put his arm up against a tree and leaned his weight on it for support. He breathed in heavily, feeling the sting around his lips from the fire he had just formed. Maybe he had overdone the training. Maybe he had gone too far. Either way, Damon knew now that he had to rest. So he slid against the tree and was almost overwhelmed at the relief it brought his legs. Jeez, he really better take it easy next time.
Out of a pouch tied to his belt, Damon removed a water canteen and unscrewed the lid greedily. He shoved it on his lips and ignored the pain even as he began gulping the water. The liquid slipped out from the corner of his mouth, but he made no move to stop it. Either he didn't care or he was just too thirsty. Once the canteen was empty, Damon sighed and dropped it on the dirt beside him, laying back against the tree. It was sunny out today, he noticed.

The air was rich with the stagnant smell of smoke, putrid, and stinging. The scent bubbled up from the field, high into the air above, where a girl was flying silently with great big swan-like wings, one hand on the withers of a great silvery-white Pegasus, who was aptly named Valacia.
“Your father told me not to let you into the enemy lands.”
“Like he ever pays attention,” the girl said bitterly, scanning the plain of fire below her. The smoke was nearly suffocating her, for she was used to the clean, pure air of the skys above.
“I want to take a closer look,” the curious princess added, much to the dismay of her fed-up guardian.
Yuliya slowly lessened the frequency of her wings flapping, until she gradually landed on the ground. She could barely see, for the smoke also burned her eyes. She doubled over to cough, not used to the mineral-rich air.
From the corner of her eye, she thought she saw something, a shadow of a person.
Damon jumped up at the sudden, new foreign voice. He ignored every muscle that screamed at him to sit back down, even though the pain was slowly creeping up. He just heard a voice, right?
Damon arched a hand over his brow to scan the field and attempt to find the owner of the voice. They didn't seem to be anywhere... Maybe it was just his imagination. After all, he was tired, right? But before Damon threw himself against the tree once more, he stopped because he too believed there was a figure behind all the smoke. Without hesitation, Damon began to approach it, believing it was the owner of the voice, hissing as needles of pain shot up his legs.
He wafted the smoke away and soon he found her. It was a blond girl with dark blue eyes and... wings? Ah, Damon saw now. "Hey, are you alright?" He asked once he was in earshot. He saw that she seemed to be struggling to breathe. She must not be used to this putrid air. "Um, follow me." Damon took her wrist and led her out of the heavy smoke. Once they were free, Damon turned around to face her. "I'm Damon Kaiton." He introduced himself. "Who are you?"

OOC: Her eyes are green/grey.
Yuliya furrowed her eyebrows, somewhat confused, but she nonetheless answered.
"My name is Yuliya Vanera Dusha Chasy Bihaty Povitria Pryroda Misiats Nebasnyy Dukhkin'," she said in one breath, tilting her head slightly. Her hand loosened its grip on Valacia's mane, hoping it would ease his tension.
"It's alright, Valacia."
"Just be glads the guards haven't come to find you yet, otherwise this person would be dead already."
"Thank you," she added, remembering what had just happened. She brushed her hair out of her eyes. It always seemed to be blowing into her face. She looked again at the boy...Fire, she knew that. It was obvious from his hair and eyes. Other than that, she couldn't be sure. she knew she was always in some sort of "danger" out their territory, and pretty much out of the palace, not that it stopped her, of course.
Damon couldn't help but chuckle. "That... That's your name?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. Gods, what kind of name was that? This girl didn't have a simple first, middle, and last name, she had multiples of them! "What was that first one... Yuliya? How about I call you that?" He asked genuinely, no longer teasing her.
Damon yawned and threw himself on the ground, his legs roaring. "So, what are you doing here? Not that you shouldn't, but... you don't look like you're from fire." She looked more of an air-type person to him, even without the wings.

“You’re wrong, I shouldn’t be here,” Yuliya said, somewhat amused but with a sad smile on her face. “After all, I’m likely to be killed. Set off the king.” It occurred to her that he didn’t know she was royalty, but she decided then not to mention it.
“I don’t like always staying in Air territory. It’s beautiful and fresh, but I want to see what’s going on. I don’t like being shielded…at least, I think so. My father’s a bit overprotective.” Her eyes scanned the sky once quickly, making sure there weren’t any flying figures in the distance.
Damon chuckled. "So, you're rebellious, then, huh?" She seemed nice enough, Damon concluded. It wasn't every day you saw a foreigner around these parts, and Damon considered himself quite lucky. Especially one from the 'enemy'. Damon didn't have anything against the air at all. Actually, he though the two elements together worked better together than Earth and Fire. Air was the wind that fueled the fire. It just didn't seem like Earth and Fire connected element-wise, but their style and beliefs were common.
Damon folded his arms behind his head and stretched. "My mom doesn't mind where I am, as long as I'm safe. When I was young, I'd wander off a lot and she said I nearly gave her a heart attack every time." Damon paused her to cough into his hand. "So, is your dad a noble or something? I'm not being stereotypical or anything, but important guys usually smother their kids." Damon sighed and coughed some more. Looking at his hand, he saw that it was dark because of the smoke. "Hey, you want to sit down? I sort of went overboard with my training and I'm wiped out. That is, if you wouldn't mind talking with me a bit. Oh, and don't worry about your dad or whatever. We hardly see foreigners around here." Damon smiled at her reassuringly.

“Sure, I’ll sit down,” Yuliya said, bringing herself down to the ground, “Yeah, my father is…” she tried to think of something, “A retired soldier the king is particularly fond of. We live in a small section of the palace. My father’s name is…” she instantly regretted even starting that sentence. There was no point in saying it, and now she had to think of a name. She couldn’t say Farasi, everyone knew her actual father by his first name. The only other name she could think of was her brother, Voyin, but everyone knew his name too. She tried to think of some air soldier who wasn’t as well known…“Kazuo. I doubt he’d go looking for me…yeah.” She quickly had added that last word to cover up another mistake she had made. Of course her actual father would never come out to get her, but guards would. “My mom died awhile ago, around seven years ago. That’s why Valacia is always with me!” Yuliya wrapped an arm around the Pegasus, who remained looking regal and dignified.
Damon smiled. "I wish I had a companion like that. Actually, I'm quite fond of foxes, but they don't make the ideal 'pet'. Besides, my mom would literally have a cow if I brought one home or something." Damon picked up a twig and began absent-mindedly poking at the dirt, but kept his attention on Yuliya out of respect. "I'm sorry to hear about your mom, though." He added in a more sympathetic voice. "I never knew my dad. Whenever I try to bring him up to my mom she always changes the subject. It's no big deal about all that stuff, right?" Damon perked himself up. "After all, we can't change the past. We can only look forward to the future."
Damon put down the stick and adjusted his sitting position. "So, when did you get Valacia?" He asked.

“Valacia? Well…when my mother died, I was eight, and known for being able to escape any barrier. My mother was the only one who could handle me. So when she…you know, my father was frightened. And, you know about the blessed animals? Well, Airs blessed horses. So, my father rushed to the stables, grabbed a newly born Pegasus colt, and threw him in with me. He told him that I was now in his protection. And then he…I don’t know what he did. He sent some sort of magical air current through both of us, so now we’re connected by speech, and Valacia can understand not only the common tongue, but lots of other languages as well. I trust him more than anything else in the world!” she said, eyes full of the stallion she was so fond of.
“I wouldn’t really consider him a pet. He’s more of…a guardian. He pays more attention to me than my actual father, so he’s my substitute,” she said cheerfully. A smile came on her face as a cool breeze gently pushed her hair from her face and Valacia’s forelock back between his ears.
