"Mea, where have you been?" hissed Tesni, not at all happy that her friend had just vanished. "Why didn't you tell me where you were going?"
"I did tell you," replied Mea, not telling her friend about the two princesses she'd met by Dangrea Bay. Tesni would not be happy about that. "I told you I was going fo a walk in Ranier Forest to think."
"You need to be careful," Tesni hissed back at her again.
"I was being careful," replied Mea, feeling rather insulted.
"What was that?" snapped Tesni, spinning round, looking up into the sky and round the ground. "Stand back Mea!"
Mea moved back shocked, what was going on?

Voyin fluttered above the volcano, surveying is closely. It was a place of great power for the fires, but seeing as his golden wings kept him high aloft from the hot lava, he was perfectly safe. He was not scolded for going out of water and air territory like Yuliya, no, he was allowed to do whateve he pleased. It was rather obvious his father, the king, favored him over his crazy daughter. Swooping down to avoid a high branch, he smacked his head on it, and he cursed loudly.

"Show yourself!" demanded Tesni, sword raised.
"Tesni," hissed Mea quietly, "I don't think that's a good idea."
"I'll do what I see fit," replied Tesni sharply. Mea decided it might be a good idea to stay quiet.

Voyin fell to the ground, his golden wings staining with blood. He lifted his dark gold eyes to see two young women before him, a fire and an earth.
"Great, just great," he muttered. He lifted himself a bit so he could inspect the damage on his wings, he cursed once again.

"If you don't act like a threat he probably won't attack us," Mea whispered to Tesni.
"You honestly think he won't?" she replied. "We're Fire and Earth, we're sworn enemies Mea! He's not about to pass up a chance to attack two girls alone of those nations is he?"

"I'm Mea and this is Tesni," Mea introduced them. She shot a quick look at Tesni to tell her not to say anything. Tesni glared at Mea's back, not happy with the situation.

"Hey don't worry," said Mea calmly.
"I said this was a bad idea!" hissed Tesni. "He's going to attack us now!"
"You don't know that Tesni," whispered back Mea. Tesni glared at Mea again. "Actually, the way he sees it we're probably an easy target seeing as we're arguing. If we want to avoid being attacked we need to show an united front." Tesni shifted her glare from Mea to Voyin.

Voyin nodded slightly and started to flap his big golden wings, sailing higher and higher into the trees. He started to drift away peacefully, when a thought entered his mind. tHey were trying to trick him! They were going to wait and when they thought he wouldn't suspect him, they would fire on him! Voyin glared and tried to think of a way to outsmart them. He went behind a tree and kept flapping but stayed in one place, so it would sound like he was flying away. Then, he took out his bow, fitted and arrow, and fired. Quickly regaining himself, without checking where it had landed, he gave a vigorous flap and continued on his way. he was tense, but he knew he was out of shot. He was beyond their sight now.

Mea watched as the man flew away. She was glad that there had been no fighting and Tesni had been wrong. This war was tearing all of them apart which was a far from pleasant experience. Her eyes widened dramatically as an arrow hurtled towards them, fired from the air's bow. Tesni flung the two of them onto the ground, just about escaping harm. Mea stood up slowly, gazing after his retreating form. His golden wings glimmered in the sunlight and it was almost hypnotizing. She looked down slightly, shaking her head in disbelief. She felt a great deal of annoyance. They had given him an opportunity but he had refused to take it. That was the war for you.
"Mea!" cried Tesni in a loud angry voice. "And to think, you were just going to let him go! You should know by now that, this is a war we're in. No one's just going to walk away from a chance like that."
Mea stared at Tesni coolly. She took a deep breath and responded in a neutral voice. "He deserved the chance at least. Just because we are at war with the air people does not mean we should actively harm lone travelers." Tesni spluttered indignantly for a short while before Mea continued. "Tesni, let's not argue over this. It's happened whether you like it or not."
